Common questions
Why aren't pins placed on some of my photos?
Automatic placement needs the drone's flight data inside the photo: GPS, height, heading and camera tilt. Some editing apps remove it when exporting. Photos without it still work; you place the pins by clicking.
The pins are a little off. How do I fix that?
Under Property, turn on Fix Alignment and drag the ground dot of a far flag you recognize, like a water tower, bridge or pier, onto its real spot. Far places give the best fix. If the photo shows a Drone / Camera compass switch, try the other one. Over water, Level from Horizon corrects the camera tilt. Only the photo you're on changes, and Cmd+Z undoes it.
A place is missing from a photo. Can I add it?
Open its category under Places to Label and drag the place onto the photo, or use Add Pin by Clicking Photo for anything Apple Maps doesn't list.
How do I get Find Lot Lines working?
Open TapTheMap, then Settings, then Lot Lines, and add your county's GIS data link. It usually ends in /MapServer/ or /FeatureServer/ and a number. The Lot Lines tab explains how to find it. Not every area has one; tracing a GIS screenshot or drawing always works.
Which export size should I pick?
Full Size keeps everything. Under 5 MB keeps full dimensions and lowers quality just enough to fit most MLS limits. Web is 2560 pixels wide and under 2 MB.
Does Retouch change my original photo?
No. Clean Up works on a copy. Your original file is never changed.
A photo says it was moved, renamed or deleted
TapTheMap reads each photo from where it was when you imported it. If the file was later moved, renamed or replaced (for example, an editor updated it in Dropbox), click Locate and pick the new file. The flight data already read from the original is kept. If the new file was cropped or resized, TapTheMap warns you, because pins may land in the wrong spots. For best results, label the original drone files or a copy nobody else edits.
How do the free trial and purchase work?
Everything works free for 3 days. After that, you can still import and label a whole flight, but exports carry a small watermark and only 5 photos export at a time until you unlock TapTheMap with a one-time purchase or a yearly subscription. To move to a new Mac, choose Unlock TapTheMap in the TapTheMap menu and click Restore Purchases.
